Carolyn,
you kept his socks and underwear
folded in
the drawer beside your bed.
Staying been,
30 years in the same day…
a cigarette,
and electronic gin.
Carolyn,
You watched me climb into your attic
in a dream
a long, long time ago.
If I wake
I’m sure to find there’s something magic,
and if I don’t
I guess I’ll never know.
And I feel I’m required this time.
Though no one’s watching,
I’ll keep talking.
If I sit up and say my lines
something will happen
like it always happens.
I’m always running up on;
I am always on.
Carolyn,
you kept his socks and underwear
folded in
the drawer beside your bed.
If you wake,
I’m sure you’ll find there’s something magic,
and if you don’t
I guess you’ll never know.
